Advanced skills teacher (AST): pay progression

How should an AST’s pay be reviewed? The DfE says that AST pay should be reviewed annually in the light of performance against agreed criteria. We look at sample criteria for progression and guidance from the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document on conducting appeals against a pay decision.
