End of Key Stage 1 assessments: statutory requirements

Are KS1 NC assessments statutory? Must we use the national SATs papers? All eligible pupils working at level 1 or above in reading, writing and maths must be assessed at the end of KS1. The statutory National Curriculum tasks and tests must be used to inform teacher assessments.
